Translation Memory Assisted Translations

The use of Translation Memory SoftwarePLG uses industry recognized commercial software, facilitated by its in-house developed utility programs, to provide you translation memory-assisted translation services. Consistency and cost savings are the major benefits of using translation memory.

Translation Memory, TM, is not Machine Translation, MT. Naturally, your documents are always translated by professional translators, but translation memory greatly enhances their capability and provides you two distinct advantages:

1. Consistency within one document and among revisions of the document over years during the entire document life. This is guaranteed by the use the Terminology Database (TDB) and computer-aided reuse of previously translated and approved texts.

2. Significantly lowered overall cost of translations in document revisions. For each of the revisions, the translation of the file starts with a translation memory analysis of the document that divides the document into three distinct segments: exact match, fuzzy match (quantified in %) and new contents. Out of the three groups, only the new contents will be charged at the regular price rate. The fuzzy match portion will be charged at a discount rate depending on the matching level. For the exact match portion, only a small management fee will be incurred to cover administrative costs. This makes it possible for the cost of the revision to be determined according to the change in text. Compared to the traditional way of translation, which has to re-translate the entire document, the cost can be greatly reduced.
