Lost in Translation: Hilary Clinton loses her cool after translator mishap
August 2009 by PLG
Ok, not that we have anything against Hilary Clinton, she just just seems to be in the news lately because of her translation mishaps, recalling her last gaffe when she presented the Russian Prime Minister with a button that said "overcharge" instead of the intended translation for "Reset".
This time, Hilary Clinton made it very clear that she was the Secretary of State earlier this month when a Congolese student, speaking through a translator, asked her what “Mr. Clinton” thought about a Chinese trade deal with the Democratic Republic of Congo. “Wait, you want me to tell you what my husband thinks?”, a furious Clinton replied not believing her ears. “My husband is not secretary of state, I am. If you want my opinion I will tell you my opinion. I am not going to be channeling my husband.”
However, the Congolose student meant to ask what President Obama thought about the trade deal, something that the translator could not get across to Clinton.
Oops!
